2025 Stewardship
Our stewardship theme this fall is "Sing a New Church into Being!"

Stewardship - WHAT IS IT?

Church stewardship is the wise use of God's resources to achieve God's purposes.

Stewardship is often associated with giving or tithing, but it encompasses so much more than just monetary contributions. It can include the resources of time, talents, people, and finances.

In the Bible, the concept of stewardship comes from the Greek word "oikonomia," which means managing or administering a household. Everything we have belongs to God and it is our responsibility to manage these resources in a way that honors God.

Church stewardship also involves recognizing that our resources are not ours alone; they are given to us by God for the purpose of furthering God's dream on earth. We are called to be faithful managers, or stewards, of the resources God has entrusted us with.

Missions & Outreach

Mosaic has always been “outward focused.” We believe in works of compassion and justice.
Some of the many ways we reach out to the world offering care and compassion:
Meals on Wheels—serving hot meals every Saturday to those who can’t get out

Ice Angels—giving away hot meals and clothing and other items every Wednesday to those experiencing life on the Streets

Monthly Young Adult service projects—our young adults meet monthly for food and fellowship and a service project

United Women of Faith (UWF)—our women are involved in a multitude of ways helping children, youth, and women

Skyline—our church and many individuals support the work of Skyline which offers assistance to those living in the shadows of the city

Outreach & Mission Efforts:

Trunk or Treat·
Pride events
Epworth Garden
Whiz Kids tutoring
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Game Nights
Special Events (like the Mark Miller weekend)
Feeding college students at UCO, Langston & OC
We have a Blessing Box and a Food Pantry providing food and other items to those who need a little extra help.
Mosaic supports the work of our members who minister at the Mexico-USA border.

Children, Youth & Young Adults

Your financial support of Mosaic enables us to be in ministry with children, youth, and young adults in a variety of ways. Your support enables us to buy supplies, Bibles for our children, Bibles for our graduates, and so much more!  From Sunday school to the children’s message during worship, from children’s church to youth group on Friday nights, from trunk-or-treat to the Easter egg hunt - Mosaic is enthusiastically involved in the lives of children and youth.

Music & Worship

St. Augustine said “The one who sings, prays twice.” Music is important at Mosaic. Your financial support enables us to have a choir, a bell choir, dancers, and creative worship.

Here’s where your money goes:

· New music for choir and bell choir
· Cleaning supplies for bells
· Folders, binders, tabs to organize music
· New decorations and cloths for special seasons like Advent and Christmas, Lent and Easter, Pentecost, Pride, etc
· Licensing and fees that enable us to livestream our worship each week
· Subscriptions for creative liturgies
· Candles and lighters
· Staff salaries

Peace & Justice

Mosaic is a church that isn’t afraid to talk about justice issues and to tackle these issues as well.

2SLGBTQ+

The largest part of our budget in the area of justice goes to 2SLGBTQ+ concerns.

· Monthly ads in the Gayly newspaper

· Yearly donation to Reconciling Ministries Network (UMC) & Open and Affirming Coalition (UCC)

· Costs associated with being in OKC PRIDE events

VOICES ORGANIZED IN CIVIC ENGAGEMENT (VOICE)

Mosaic is a member of VOICE (www.voiceokc.org/)

($1200/year)

VOICE (Voices Organized in Civic Engagement) is a coalition of congregations, nonprofits, worker associations, and schools that have come together out of a deep sense of mission and concern about the pressures families face in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. We work to better understand those pressures by listening to the experiences of the people in our member institutions and engaging those impacted in better understanding the issues and areas. We foster ongoing, respectful conversations about lived experiences, rejecting ideological shouting matches.

RACIAL JUSTICE

Although Mosaic is not a formal member of any organization doing racial justice work, we do take racial justice seriously. You will find many of our members involved with various organizations.
